The brief for this project was to design a stool inspired by the traditional Portuguese stool, known for its basic yet robust wooden construction, using only wood materials. My approach was to simplify the design even further while enhancing its eco-friendliness.

AO is as minimal as a stool can get. It consists of just three easily assembled parts, cut from a zero-added-formaldehyde MDF panel using a CNC router, and finished with a non-toxic wood sealant. Like its traditional counterpart, A0 is tough and steady, and its versatility allows it to function as a side table or step ladder.
